HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!

Happy birthday my friend. Finally 21! I hope you enjoy your day with the Kim clan, and I will see you this weekend!

We've had many memories over the years, but my favorites include the times when we would freak out about some cool song we've heard or go to an awesome concert. Do you remember? I think I've got all of them below (thanks to your camera):

Freshman year, March 2004 - John Mayer @ Brandeis

It was rumored that Guster or Maroon5 (we thought this was especially exciting)would be opening, but instead we got this guy:

David Ryan Harris. Not particularly memorable. Conveniently enough, he was also John Mayer's guitarist.

It was ok though, because THIS MAN was amazing:

I remember we had some difficulties with tall girls w/ giant hair in front of us. And also there is the most random group BC picture from this concert. Weird. Oh yeah, I also remember having to SPRINT to the commuter rail at North Station to catch the train to Brandeis. And then we waited in line. In the dark. On a grassy knoll.

Sophomore year, April 2005 - Maroon5 @ Agganis Arena

After being extremely disappointed that Maroon5 didn't open for John Mayer, we caught them in the spring of our sophomore year. The Donna's opened. They sort of sucked, so I don't want to ruin this entry with their picture. Instead I will include nice photos:

Our seats were ok, but we snuck up closer to the stage ... and we didn't get caught! Unlike the woman in front of us. I remember that this particular concert spurred on your rampage of downloading Maroon5 videos and then sending them to me. And it really is time that these kids make a new album, eh? Oh yeah it was raining that day. We bought posters. And we saw some Cornerstone BU kids and my freshman year roommate. I have random memories.

Sophomore year, May 2005 - Coldplay @ Avalon

In general, this whole experience is probably one of my favorite memories ever in life thus far. First our scramble to get those $20 tickets, my spastic Ebay clicking (which turned into cash and Keane tickets), another Ebay purchase, waiting for 8 hours outside with Anna's, seat cushions, and finals material ... thinking that we saw Apple, getting into sound check, being first row! ... sick.

We got sunburned. AMAZING. I still can't believe we got a chance to see this concert ... ps. these are definitely sweet pics.

Summer, June 20o5 - Keane @ Bank of America Pavillion

So in my foolish Ebay purchase for Coldplay, I made a nice trade for 4 tickets to the Keane concert. Josh Ritter opened. It's so unmemorable that I had to google that. I remember that we spent most of the opening act taking naps. =)

I have no photographs whatsoever from this concert, except for this one that we took before the show started:

It was a really good show ... and we got to hear the "Hamburg Song," which we were looking forward to. What I really remember most, however, is that weekend spent in MA and ME! Perfect weather and great company.

Junior year is a noted dry period of concerts ... due to the fact that you were in LONDON, AKA awesome Brit music capitol of the world. Jealousy ensues ... because you saw some amazing concerts.

Summer, 2006 - Mat Kearney @ Prud

Can you believe this is one of the only things we saw over the summer?! Boggles my mind. This was probably the best lunchbreak, huh? Sakio Japan + music and strange baby running around with blonde dreadlocked woman.

Summer, 2006 - BSO @ Tanglewood

All I have to say is: Boston Market; Woman on Segway. I think it was truly a euphoric and spiritual moment (OK i know you're laughing) to lie back in the grass and hear a great symphony orchestra play through the night.

Some good memories, eh? God is amazing for creating music.

I look forward to seeing more great concerts, finding more great bands, and in general ... experiencing good music with a great friend!

Christmas +1

Jen! Nice speakers. =) Let's get together to listen to music. I'll use my new headphones and talk ridiculously loud while you look cool with your hip red speakers. Merry Christmas (late) to you too.

I spent Christmas eating authentic Taiwanese food in Queens, NY with the Tsay men and my aunt & uncle. Normally I'd like to have the traditional Americana Christmas food, but man ... that meal was the ultimate comfort food. I also caught a showing of Dreamgirls -- shoot, go see this right away. The movie/music is absolutely amazing. And more than that, there is a nice little appearance by URKLE in the beginning. Yes, the one and only Jaleel White. There's this one song that Jennifer Hudson sings -- "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going" -- soo crazy. Jennifer Hudson is amazing. It killed me. I'm serious ... watch the movie and those 5 minutes will move you. I wish I could see the original show!

In other news, Steph is our first commenter! Hahaha. Yes, it's awesome that we have similar tastes in music. And that we were in the same preschool class. And that you live across the street from me.

And just to keep in the theme of music, here's a random Youtube clip of Radiohead from SNL that I stumbled upon. Circa 2001? I remember watching this when it aired on TV ... I remember that I was both really creeped out and really enthralled by Thom Yorke. I feel the same way when I watch it now. Who knows.

Happy Christmas!

Merry Christmas (Ellen) !!! haha

My brother and dad and I did presents last night and my dad got me the same pair of sennheiser headphones I already have except in white so I'll probably return them but he also got me a new speaker set!

He got me the JBL Creature II Speakers in red

I wasn't sure why he got the color red... and he then proceeded to explain to me that "red is the in color right now, don't you know? like all the RED campaign things. except this doesn't benefit the RED campaign but... you know." hahaha... anyway I set them up on my laptop in the kitchen and have been playing around with them blasting music really loud and I'm pretty impressed. The design is fun and for the price the sound quality is really nice! I can't wait to set them up at school! Ellen I know you share my audiophilia and we can play around with them back at BC! :)

Anyway I didn't put this song up before but it's a nice Christmas song albeit a somber one... but eh, Christmas doesn't really feel like Christmas right now so I guess it's fitting

Music to Make You Merry...?

Ellen had some sweet songs on her Christmas playlist, including my favorites! I love the Coldplay one (of course) and the Phantom Planet one! So basically I'm just sharing a few more, including my favorite of all time - ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU!!!! From Love Actually, of course. And Jimmy Eat World because it's pretty much a modern classic. Is that a legit term?

Well it definitely doesn't feel like Christmas but I welcome Christmas music at any time of year! Especially the Love Actually song (can you tell I'm obsessed?) !!! Unless it's "Santa Baby" which is pretty much the worst Christmas song ever written. That is all.
